Spread Awareness this October

September 30, 2014

September 30, 2014 – The temperature is cooling off, the leaves are beginning to change, and NNEDV’s office is covered in purple – which can only mean one thing: Domestic Violence Awareness Month is almost here!

Every October since 1987, advocates across the country join together to mourn those who have lost their lives because of abuse, celebrate the resilience and strength of survivors, and connect all those working together to end domestic violence.

Every October, we honor the progress we’ve made and recommit ourselves to the work still left to do. Join us in recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

#31n31
Every day throughout the month of October, NNEDV will share one way that laws and policies have made a positive difference in the lives of survivors. We’ll be highlighting the three cornerstones of the federal response to domestic violence – the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA), and the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) – which are each celebrating milestone anniversaries this year.

Help raise awareness about these lifesaving laws by liking and sharing the #31n31 posts on FacebookTwitterInstagramPinterest, and Google+.

Chefs Take a Stand
If you’re in the Washington, DC area, join NNEDV on October 9 at the Chefs Take a Stand event featuring delicious food and creative cocktails from some of DC’s best women chefs and mixologists. Learn more about this can’t-miss event and reserve your tickets now!

Cyber Security Awareness
October is also National Cyber Security Awareness Month. During the week of October 13-17, Safety Net will be sharing important updates and information on technology safety.
