Domestic Violence Counts: 2008 Census Report

On September 17, 2008, seventy-eight percent of identified domestic violence programs in the United States participated in the 2008 National Census of Domestic Violence Services. The results were published February 11, 2009 in the NNEDV report: Domestic Violence Counts 2008: A 24-hour census of domestic violence shelter and services across the United States.

It is the most recent data documenting the number of individuals who seek services in a 24 hour period, the types of services requested, the number of service requests that went unmet because of lack of resources, and the issues and barriers that domestic violence programs are facing as they strive tirelessly to provide services to victims of domestic violence.
