This tip sheet, meant for DV providers, outlines the options a provider has when working with a survivor who might be at risk of or diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. The steps listed can help improve services to respond to the needs of survivors who are facing the intersection of DV and HIV/AIDS. Information provided includes how to talk about HIV/AIDS and sex/sexuality, suggestions about partnering with a local HIV/AIDS provider, information about sexual safety planning, and suggestions on how to change organizational policies and procedures. The importance of implementing these guidelines for all clients and with all service providers is stressed.
