NNEDV Applauds Senate Confirmation of OVW Director Rosie Hidalgo
July 11, 2023
The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) applauds the Senate confirmation of Rosemarie Hidalgo as the Director of the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Ms. Hidalgo is eminently qualified to lead OVW. She is a nationally recognized leader with over 25 years of experience in legislative policy development and implementation, advocacy, grant and program management, and training. She is currently the Senior Advisor on Gender-Based Violence and a Special Assistant to the President, where she helped lead the development and launch of the first-ever U.S. National Plan to End Gender-Based Violence. The first Senate-confirmed OVW Director since 2012 and the first Latina in the role, Ms. Hidalgo will lead implementation of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and advance OVW’s critical mission.
NNEDV and our member state and territorial domestic violence and dual domestic violence and sexual assault coalitions look forward to working with Ms. Hidalgo in her new role to advance safety and justice for survivors.
