31 Actions for DVAM

September 23, 2013

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, or DVAM, and NNEDV is celebrating by sharing 31 things you can do to help create a world where domestic violence doesn’t exist — one for every day of the month!

Even though 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, many people are still reluctant to talk about this important issue. By raising awareness, we help shed light on the problem and create a community where victims feel safer coming forward, where more perpetrators are held accountable, and where we can move closer to preventing and ending domestic violence. This October, NNEDV is calling on all of you to take the next step and to turn awareness into action. Our #31n31 campaign will bring you a new action step every day that you can take to help us in our efforts to address domestic violence and to make a difference in your community. With suggestions ranging from volunteering at a shelter to hosting a film screening and so much more, there’s something for everyone!

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and use our hashtags #31n31 and #DVAM, to catch all 31 actions and to join the conversation.
