NNEDV, DOL Host Webinar on Domestic Violence in the Workplace

September 18, 2014 – Last week, the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), the Women’s Bureau and the Employment and Training Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) convened a webinar to address intimate partner violence at work. The webinar, Domestic Violence: Supporting Survivors in the Workplace, provided information and resources for both employers and workforce development professionals so that they could better support survivors of domestic violence as they search for and obtain employment and in their general performance on-the-job.

Speakers included Grace Protos, Regional Administrator, DOL Women’s Bureau; Marium Baker, DOL Employment and Training Administration; and Kim Pentico, NNEDV.

One in four American women face domestic violence and/or sexual assault by an intimate partner in the course of her lifetime. For survivors of such violence, economic security and independence are critical to recovery and personal safety. Today, nearly half of the U.S. labor force is comprised of women; their contributions are vital to our nation’s economic security.
