NNEDV Partners with Local Chefs and Foodies to Celebrate VAWA
August 26, 2014
August 26, 2014 – On October 9th, Chefs Take a Stand will return to our nation’s capital!
The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) is once again partnering with some of DC’s finest women chefs and mixologists to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). VAWA is truly groundbreaking legislation and has been making a positive difference in the lives of victims since 1994. Last year, VAWA was reauthorized and is now one of the most inclusive pieces of federal legislation – and the very first piece of legislation to afford non-discrimination protections to LGBTQ individuals. VAWA has transformed the way our society responds to the crime of domestic violence which has helped keep survivors and their families safer. That alone is really something to celebrate.
The evening will feature celebrity chef Carla Hall and multiple chef stations – staffed by DC’s finest chefs and mixologists – at the fabulous Carnegie Library in downtown Washington, DC. Each station will be offering a sampling of that chef or mixologist’s featured taste or sip for the evening.
In addition to incredible food and drinks, the evening will also include a silent & live auction, featuring tickets to a live taping of ABC’s The Chew, All-Clad cookware, and more!
Join us Thursday, October 9, 2014 for a festive evening of food, fun, and celebration!
