Qualifications:
This role requires an entrepreneurial, relationally skilled professional who will build on experience soliciting and stewarding major philanthropic support and developing strong systems to support the development lifecycle. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Seven or more years of experience working in development at a nonprofit or public health organization, including experience applying for and reporting on large (six to eight figure) federal government contracts and public and foundation grants.

• Strong interest in violence intervention and health equity issues and experience developing funding proposals for related work.

• Proven knowledge of various institutional funding streams, awareness of new trends or opportunities in the field, and a track record of securing multi-year contracts/grants.

• Strategic thinker able to create a vision for The HAVI’s advancement functions and set goals to support growth in funding for The HAVI’s mission and programs.

• Facility with budget development and management and knowledge of funding regulations and restrictions, including those relevant to federal funding.

• Exposure to relationship management in an institutional philanthropic context, and desire to grow into managing major funder relationships.

• Energized by working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with multiple priorities and ample room for self-directed growth.

• Demonstrated ability to manage up, delegate effectively and diplomatically, and manage large proposal writing processes within a team.

• Strong computer and project management skills, including experience working with development database systems and workflow tracking.

• A commitment to value and seek diversity of thought, backgrounds, and perspectives.

• Collegial and outgoing nature with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen as well as lead and to quickly form strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Description:
The Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (The HAVI) invites nominations and applications for its inaugural development staff person, an Associate Director of Advancement (Associate Director). Located within the Health Resources in Action organization, The HAVI builds and connects violence intervention programs and promotes equity for victims of violence globally.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious fundraising professional to bring project management skills, relationship management experience, and appetite for growth to a dynamic organization at the forefront of the movement to heal systemic and interpersonal violence. The person in this position will have the ability to work collaboratively with talented senior staff and program directors to expand the breadth and impact of the organization by growing and systematizing its advancement work.

The Associate Director of Advancement will be a central coordinator, working to ensure that The HAVI’s development pipeline is organized and the organization’s forward momentum on securing resources to support its work remains strong. The person in this role will, over time and with support, be responsible for securing significant funds to expand the scope and breadth of the organization’s impact and to support the organization’s signature programs. They will be expected to develop relationships with The HAVI’s Advancement Council and key funders and to build internal processes for pipeline management, stewardship, and grant reporting. The Associate Director will have the opportunity to help steward the growth of The HAVI’s advancement function as the team and operation scales up to support organizational needs.

Benefits:
The Associate Director of Advancement is an exempt, full-time, fully remote position with some domestic travel, and will report to The HAVI’s Executive Director. The salary range for this role is between $95,000 - $105,000 based on skills and experience.
