After nearly three years, the REACH Project is drawing to a close. This initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime, has been a partnership between NNEDV’s WomensLaw project and Esperanza United. Together, we expanded access to the WomensLaw Email Hotline, which fills a critical gap for legal information for victims and survivors of domestic violence nationwide. We also created and translated new content and training resources into Spanish, thereby deepening the quality of information and support provided.
As we announce the successful completion of this project, we would like to share some key highlights with you.
We helped 6,905 people through our bilingual English/Spanish Email Hotline from October 2022 to August 2025. This number includes victims and survivors of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking; their advocates; and their loved ones. You can view our 2023 and 2024 annual snapshots to see stats and read quotes from users about how the service helped them.
We released a public service announcement video, “Between Amigas: Introducing the WomensLaw Email Hotline.” Voiced by Grammy award-winning artist and activist Gloria Estefan and actor and philanthropist Paulina Chávez, the animated video demonstrates how to support someone experiencing abuse and explains how to get help through the WomensLaw Email Hotline. The video was shared across social media and news outlets. It now lives on WomensLaw.org’s Helping Others page. In total, the English and Spanish videos have been viewed more than 22,342 times.
We hosted nine webinars and virtual gatherings for advocates. These were opportunities to convene with service providers across the country, raise awareness about REACH Project services, and share information about serving survivors. We are grateful to all who participated and engaged with us!
We enhanced and expanded content on WomensLaw.org. Among other updates to the website, we added and revised legal information about custody, one of the topics we are asked about often by Email Hotline users. We also translated all of our state-specific information for Missouri, Idaho, Rhode Island, and Hawaii into Spanish. You can always check out what’s new on the website.
Thank you to our funders and partners. This will be our final REACH blog, but we hope you’ll continue using and sharing WomensLaw.org and the Email Hotline!
