NNEDV + PWN
Since 2010, the Positive Women’s Network-USA (PWN) and the Positively Safe Project at the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) have partnered to strengthen support for domestic violence survivors living with HIV.
PWN played an integral role in the formation of NNEDV’s Positively Safe Project as a key member of the DV & HIV Advisory Committee and helped shape the pilot project training, ensuring survivor-led expertise is embedded throughout this work.
Together, PWN and NNEDV have co-created resources, including our newest survivor-led, autonomy-driven disclosure tool, and have presented webinars and conference sessions nationwide. This long-standing partnership is grounded in a shared commitment to ensuring every survivor of domestic violence living with HIV has affirming, empowering, and trauma-informed access to support.
In October 2014, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), the Positive Women’s Network launched the inaugural National Day of Action to End Violence Against Women Living with HIV. This day highlights the significant violence, abuse, and systemic brutality that women living with HIV endure, including murders after the disclosure of their HIV status.
In 2024, for this day of action, NNEDV and PWN collaborated to hold candid, heartfelt, and inspiring discussions at the intersection of domestic violence and HIV.
