In Solidarity with Our Network: NNEDV Supports Diverse Member Responses to New Federal Grants Requirements

June 18, 2025

Contact: Communications@NNEDV.org

Washington, DC –The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) is a membership organization representing the 56 state and U.S. territorial coalitions against domestic violence, which in turn represent more than 2,000 local domestic violence programs. These coalitions work tirelessly to end domestic violence in every state and territory throughout the country, serving as a lifeline for survivors and their families. We are aware that several of NNEDV’s member organizations are engaged in litigation proceedings in response to the restrictions on grants issued by the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). While NNEDV is not pursuing litigation at this time, we stand in support of all members and affirm the right of each member organization to independently make decisions that are in the best interest of the survivors they serve.

For 35 years, we have stood firm in our support for our member organizations and in the values that guide our work, values rooted in equity, survivor-centered practice, and the unwavering belief that every person experiencing domestic violence deserves access to safety, support, and healing. We are committed to continuing to support all our members in their efforts to serve survivors in their communities and to keep survivors of domestic violence at the center of everything we do.

We remain steadfast in our belief that our shared mission must always center on survivors. No matter the strategy, our collective goal is to ensure that the safety net built through years of work and advocacy, and supported in part by federal funding, remains strong and stable. Safety should always be within reach — whenever, wherever — for survivors, for their children, and for the strength of our communities.

NNEDV stands with all of our members, united in purpose and committed to ensuring that no survivor is left behind.
