The Fiscal Year (FY) '08 budget passed by Congress in December 2007 included staggering cuts to the Victims of Crime Act Fund (VOCA).  The President also recently announced his FY '09 budget, which would be devastating for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.

In a single day, domestic violence programs served more than 53,000 adults and children in the United States.  However, a significant number of requests - more than 7,700 - went unmet because domestic violence agencies lacked the funding and staff to meet the demand.  This data comes from the release of the National Network to End Domestic Violence's second National Census of Domestic Violence Services.
