Survivor Access to Safety is Not fully Available
The following report is compiled by the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence. They report, “Illinois systems are failing survivors despite the existence of the Illinois Domestic Violence Act (IDVA). Local processes, procedures, and the need for training and understanding of the cycle and trauma put survivors at an on-going serious risk of life-threatening harm. The promise of safety and security provided by the IDVA is consistently and uniformly broken across the state. “
