ANDVSA is a dynamic agency working to end violence and oppression through social change. ANDVSA is a membership-based organization that is governed by 23 community-based, non-profit agencies that provide life-saving services including emergency shelter; systems and individual advocacy; violence prevention strategies; and outreach. ANDVSA staff support this work through technical assistance to membership, and direct implementation of prevention, advocacy, legal, and policy initiatives. As the federally recognized state domestic and sexual violence state coalition, ANDVSA is accountable to individual victims and survivors impacted by violence, to our membership, to other organizations addressing domestic and sexual violence in their respective communities, and to Alaska Native organizations.


ANDVSA is looking for an individual to serve as Executive Director who can help lead us through these challenging yet hopeful times of change. We are seeking someone who:

• Embodies a passion for both the leadership role and our work to end domestic and sexual violence and abuse throughout the state.
• Will cultivate a healthy workplace atmosphere of constant learning for all staff with a focus on equity and anti-oppression systemic work, developing trust, creating safety and encouraging creativity.
• Has a commitment to anti-oppression, equity and inclusion-work.
• Is an excellent listener with strong individual and group communication skills (written and verbal)with an ability to apply these skills across a range of relationships and environments, to connect with a diverse range of people.
• Is a strong leader who can effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities balancing the productivity of self and organization while maintaining awareness to self-care and the well-being of staff.
• Is flexible, adaptive, and introspective, possessing strong critical thinking skills.
• Has demonstrated the ability to build authentic relationships across and within diverse groups, particularly Alaska’s Indigenous Peoples, and LGBTQ+ communities.
• Has demonstrated experience building operational budgets and maintaining and/or raising sufficient and diversified funding to support a thriving organization.
• Is knowledgeable about criminal justice systems.
•Is knowledgeable about legislative processes and effective lobbying, advocacy, and mobilization strategies.

During normal times (e.g., non-pandemic) this position provides the opportunity for travel within our state and to the “Lower 48”. At times, travel will be frequent and/or for extended periods.

SALARY: $105,000 per contract year.
