- Consumer Action is a nonprofit, membership-based organization, serving consumers across the U.S. by advancing consumer rights. It refers consumers to complaint handling agencies through its free hotline and publishes educational materials on credit banking, insurance, utilities and HMOs. These materials are available in Chinese, English, Korean, Russian, Vietnamese and other languages. CA also provides outreach and technical assistance to a national network of 4,500 community-based and government agencies. Consumer Action’s National Consumer Resource Center (NCRC) distributes free multilingual educational publications that can be browsed online. Community agencies can print them out and distribute them to educate and inform clients of consumer issues.
