Economic Recovery Package Provides Jobs for Victim Advocates
February 13, 2009
Victim advocates from across the country look forward to the swift passage of the final Economic Recovery Package that includes critical funding to hire and train more victim services advocates and specialized law enforcement officers. With recent federal and state budget cuts, many victim services advocates have lost their jobs, even as the demand for domestic violence support services rises. The vital provisions in the final bill not only provide long-term, sustainable growth to the economy through job creation but also encourage economic self-sufficiency for domestic violence victims. We look forward to Congress passing the final bill today that the President will sign into law by Monday, February 16, 2009.
