Hair Cuttery and the National Network to End Domestic Violence Give Free Haircuts to Thousands Across the Nation

Hair Cuttery, the largest family-owned and operated chain of hair salons in the country, today announced the donation of 81,731 haircuts to support victims of domestic violence. This year’s May Share-A-Haircut program marks the fourth year the salon and the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) have partnered to spread awareness of domestic violence and offer survivors a free haircut. Since 2014, Hair Cuttery has donated 247,731 free haircuts valued at $5.37 million to domestic violence survivors.

“Our momentum with NNEDV continues to grow with each iteration of the spring Share-A-Haircut program, “said Dennis Ratner, CEO and founder of Hair Cuttery. “It is empowering to witness communities banding together to support such an impactful cause nationwide.”

With the help of NNEDV, the free haircut certificates will be distributed through its membership, which includes all 56 state and territorial domestic violence coalitions and over 2,000 local domestic violence programs. These certificates will benefit women, children, and men who have been affected by abuse.

"The continued success of our partnership with Hair Cuttery is inspiring. The Share-A-Haircut program is a great example of communities coming together across the nation to show their support for survivors,” said Kim Gandy, NNEDV President and CEO. “Partnerships like this enable us to continue working toward our mission to end domestic violence and support and empower all survivors.”

Since 1999, the Share-A-Haircut program has donated more than 2.16 million free haircut certificates valued at nearly $35 million. Hair Cuttery has an established history of charitable giving, supporting a range of local and national causes, including St. Baldrick’s Foundation, American Red Cross, The National Network to End Domestic Violence, American Cancer Society, and Girls on the Run.
