Nancy is a State Coalition Technical Assistance Specialist at NNEDV. Prior to working for NNEDV, Nancy worked for the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) for 23 years as the Health Projects Manager. At PCADV, Nancy oversaw medical advocacy projects that provide direct services to over 5,000 battered women annually in 85 Pennsylvania hospitals and other healthcare settings and extensive training to more than 20,000 health care professionals a year. She also provided technical assistance to domestic violence advocates and health care providers, as well as state and federal legislators and insurance regulators on legislative and public policy efforts to halt discrimination against battered women by the insurance industry. Nancy also worked with the Family Violence Prevention Fund on the National Health Initiative on Domestic Violence including the development of a first of its kind comprehensive resource and training manual for health care providers "Improving the Health Care Response to Domestic Violence: A Resource Manual for Health Care Providers." She provided technical assistance and training to health care professionals and domestic violence programs personnel statewide and nationally on the development of a healthcare response to domestic violence and responded to requests by the print and broadcast media for information on health related domestic violence issues. She has also served as a consultant to the Centers for Disease Control on intentional injury research. In 2002, Ms. Durborow received a national award from the Family Violence Prevention Fund for her advocacy and state and national leadership on changing the health care system response to domestic violence. Before joining PCADV, Ms. Durborow worked with abused children and their families. She holds a Masters Degree in Counseling from Shippensburg University.
