Before joining NNEDV, Brian Namey was the press secretary at the Democratic Governors Association, where he was responsible for managing media relations and implementing national and state-specific strategic communications plans. Working with governors and candidates for governor, Namey helped to increase the number of Democratic governors from 22 to 29, the highest level in 14 years. He was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar at the University of Oxford where he earned a master’s degree in social policy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in ethics, history, and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Namey volunteered there as a crisis advocate for survivors of sexual assault.
