Valentina was born in Santiago, Chile and raised between Mobile, Alabama and ViƱa del Mar, Chile. She received her B.S. from Spring Hill College and M.S. from Tulane University. During her graduate work, she conducted extensive research on gender-based violence issues in Latin America and among migrant communities in the Greater New Orleans area. She previously served as a shelter advocate at a domestic violence organization in New Orleans, and worked with student media and political groups at Tulane University. In her free time, Valentina enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and water aerobics.
